Documenting Disappearance
This lecture was about temporary art and how it is immortalised through photography. I found the nature of temporary art an interesting concept. The installations that particularly struck me were Snowballs in Summer by Andy Goldsworthy and Spiral Jetty by Robert Smithson . The thing that struck me the most about the snowballs was the contradiction between having snow which is associated with winter suddenly appearing on a hot summers day. I thought the concept was really interesting and must have made an impact on the people who were viewing. I enjoyed looking at pictures of their reactions. I found the fact that the spiral jetty was supposed to be temporary but due to weather conditions it resurfaced some time later. Although this was completely out of the artists control it did add another perspective to the piece.
Working on....
Uni
I am now working towards the new brief, looking at space and light. At the moment I am researching shadows on the body and how they can form jewellery. I am particularly interested in this artist.
Personal
The deadline for the craft fair is now imminent, so I have been working on cleaning up what pieces I have made so they are ready for sale. Pictures of the complete collection can be found here.
